Friday

Thank goodness!!

We met the new addition to the family the other night...mom got herself a little dog, it's a cross between a shitzu and a toy poodle, basically it's a shitpoo (as I told the kids). Originally it's name was Knickers, mom was made to name her before she left with her but has decided it doesn't suit her and her name now is Sofie (poor mom, forgot her name last night and had to call and ask me what it was). She's pretty cute! She weighs about 3 lbs and will get as big as 6 lbs. She's a caramel color and is basically just a little ball with fur. The only problem is that she's only one dog and their are four grandchildren who adore her and two daughters who are quite enamoured as well. Yesterday at the hospital Graham was telling the techs about his grandmother's new puppy and was asked what kind, he looked at me with wide eyes and asked if he could say it...shitpoo...

Elysia fell asleep last night at 7:30, she was pretty tired. I missed my Survivor buddy.

Must go and work...what a novel idea...

No Results

We got there today, only to learn that we won't have any results for a week or two...agh!!
It was snowing when we left and not the nicest of drives to Windsor, but from Windsor on, it was just wet. Driving home was fine...
Graham was awesome today. We started off at 9 having an IV put in, he was great, didn't cry or move, he did pinch up his face. They injected the first dye, we waiting 40 minutes and then he had the first scan. The scan takes about 25 minutes but we had some problems with that. The machine is set up to take 16 pictures per heart beat. It looks at the beginning of the heart beat and then starts taking pictures...unfortunately with Graham's extra beats, it was throwing the machine off, so Graham ended up having to lay there for 45 minutes with his hands over his head without moving...he asked if he was allowed to move to breath...they said that was a good thing. We left there around 11 to grab some lunch.

At 1 we were back to the heart centre for the stress test part. While he's running on the treadmill they inject another dye and will absorb into the parts they want to see in one minute. He ran his little guts out...all the time telling them how good of a soccer player he is. Then back down to nuclear medicine for another scan but this one wasn't as bad because the machine was "ready" for him. We ended up leaving around 3 so we were able to make it back for Elysia's soccer game...which they won!

D Day Tomorrow

I won't be blogging tomorrow as we leave early for Halifax. We have to be there for 8:45, Elysia has to get herself ready tomorrow with out mommy there. She's pretty good once she's up and she'll be up dressed before we leave the house.

Found out yesterday when I confirmed the appointment that Graham has to have an IV put it...because they inject something in the morning and then again while he's on the tread mill...so we told him about it. I told him if he wants to cry because it hurts, that's okay but he cannot freak out before when he doesn't even know. I told him it won't hurt as much as the flu shot and he does that fine. He was a little freaked out when we first told him but he's settled into it now and all he wanted to know is--could he tell his friends.

Mike (my husband, remember him) and I will head out around 7:15...that gives us plenty of time in case we hit traffic. Mike told them point blank at work yesterday that if anything is up, they are not his priority. His big big boss is very supportive, Mike thinks they dealt with something in the past with a child because he's always asking what is going on with Graham. My boss is awesome about it too. I had talked about all this in my first interview and was very straightforward about it...so there's no surprise.

I know everyone has their thoughts with Graham and we really appreciate it!!

Tuesday

It's only Tuesday!! AGH!!

Mike and I are heading to the city on Thurs with Graham for the big testing day. He is having a metabolic (sp?) exercise test and a nuclear heart scan. He gets injected (although I told him he might get to swallow it...bad lying mother) with dye at 9:00. Then we wait...around noonish, he has the exercise test, the difference with this one is they measure what he is breathing in and out...so they put some sort of mask thing on him, not sure what he will think of that. After the exercise test, we go right for the heart scan. Long day...want it over...but don't want it over. Mike and I are quite nervous about this one...what will they say?! Let's keep our fingers crossed! We have to leave quite early so Elysia will have to get ready for school by herself...which she says she can do just fine!

I went for a walk last night with Janet, it was such a nice evening and we hoofed it around the neighborhood for a bit...imagine that....me...exercise!!

Weekend

2008 Valley Rotary Celebrity Chef Gala featuring Michael Howell (Tempest) Craig Flinn (Chives - Halifax), Scott Geddes (Cocoa Pesto Bistro - Windsor), Mike McKinnon (Chartwells/Acadia) Don Mailman & Peter Dewar (NSCC Kingstec)....and the winner was Mike McKinnon!!! Way to go Mike!!!

Had a busy weekend...started off with Margarita Night...only four of us but it was fun...a good bunch and my margaritas were pretty good if I do say so myself. Not made with mix or anything and I was able to make them by the pitcher full. Wasn't feeling too much pain by the end of the night. The bed was spinning a little.

Graham had soccer on Sat and then Connor and Sarah came for the night because their mean mommy went to BC without them (as Sarah told me over and over)...Connor's hockey game on Sunday, which he ended up in the penalty box for (elbow)...I was shocked!! My little nephew~the hooligan!

BC

Well...I have two sisters in BC right now (without me!)...my mother informed me that I am not to go anywhere. She has enough trouble with one chickadee in BC but now there's two...so guess what...I'm her favorite now!

Mike (my husband...remember him) is back from Halifax. He was there for three days preparing food for the CEO tour of his company. He usually comes back with something and this time it was a 24 of beer and two bottles of wine...hmm...what does that say about us.

Elysia and I watched Survivor last night, she's hooked. We have a good laugh over it. She's heading to a birthday party tonight.

Graham said he wasn't feeling well this morning, I'm hoping it was just him being tired. He has his big tests next week for the old ticker and we wouldn't be able to go if he's sick. He did manage to get down two english muffins so I think he'll survive.

Have a good weekend!!

Late

So...I'm late today blogging...at least I blog, which is more than I can say for some!!

Josee is off to BC today and I am jealous. I know she'll have fun and Tracey and the girls will enjoy having her there....blah, blah, blah...did I mention I was jealous.

The floods in Kentville have subsided somewhat. I usually go down Lovett Rd and Brooklyn St when I head to work. I could not go down either as both had been flooded by the recent weather. I could drive down them today and you could see the "tide" lines in the ice. Some glad I don't live close to that. I was hoping the building I work in would get surrounded by water but no such luck..haha!!

New Dose

Graham has been taking this new medication that he has to build up his tolerance to until he hits the right dose. Last night was our last increase in it. Unfortunately when he starts a new dose it really bothers his sleeping...he doesn't sleep well, has nightmares. So last night he was up alot through the night, I asked him why he didn't come and lay with me (Mike is in Halifax) and he said he didn't want to disturb me. I told him it was probably the wind and rain that bothered him but if he had problems he could come and sleep with me tonight...and trust me, he's a worm when he sleeps.

Today was PJ day at school, not "what you where to bed" day, otherwise Graham would end up in his underwear. Elysia took clothes in case people weren't wearing their pj's in her grade...the angst of a teenager.

Josee is heading to BC tomorrow and I am jealous!!

Weekend

Went to Connor's hockey game today, they won, Connor is really getting more physical in the games. I told Sarah she better be careful because he might rub her out in the hallway at home. The other team had this huge player with a great shot and Connor got into it with him a couple of times. Uncle Jeff took Graham over to have him help out in the penalty box, he thought that was pretty cool.

The kids and I went to Halifax yesterday. I got to use my laptop for scrapbooking and really enjoyed using the new program I had got. Elysia spent the day with her friend Melissa and managed to get a little shopping in. Graham spent the day with Lynn and family and had a ball playing with Blake and Brady, he has really missed them. They have a cute kitten now, his name is Jonah and he loves to be picked up, my kind of cat. I do miss having a cat in the house, but it's either a cat or Elysia and we really like having her around...haha. Mike spent the day home, did some laundry and I'm sure watched at least one movie (ps did I mention my husband, Mike).
Here's a picture of Elysia and Sarah playing in the snow at Josee's house...

Friday

Thank Goodness!! This week has seemed extra long...not sure why...maybe it's the age thing...

Heading to the city tomorrow for some scrapbooking. The kids are visiting friends for the day, Elysia is visiting her friend Melissa and Graham is spending the day at our old (as in prior, not age) babysitter's house with their kids. They are both looking forward to it. Mike will be home by himself, I'm sure there will be a movie involved at some point during his day. Hopefully we can get Graham's hair cut while we are up in the city, he likes to go to the Walmart, but the Walmart in New Minas does not have a hair salon (sorry Graham, a barber shop).

Valentine's Day

Happy Valentines Day to all!! Even though I am not a big supporter of this one, I still wish all a good day and in the spirit I will blog in red today!

Gave the kiddies a little Kinder Egg Surprise Valentine. Which was amazing because I had bought them a while ago and hid them in a safe place. Guess what, it was very safe, took me about 15 minutes to remember where...I knew it was in the kitchen and just before Graham came down, I remembered it was in the turkey roaster. Good mother!

Played with my laptop last night, had some fun. Elysia loves it! I am taking it to my scrapbooking gig on Saturday.

PS Did I mention my husband, Mike...

LapTop!!

My new laptop is at my house and I'm at work...AGH!!

Valentines Day Before

I am not a Valentine's Day fan...I think it's a scam from Hallmark and florists...!!

Mike did give me beautiful roses for a combo birthday/valentines day thing. They are beautiful. He's was smart and threw in the birthday thing because flowers for Valentines Day are a waste of money to me. Give me the cash and tell me it was for flowers -- haha....

(Did I mention my husband Mike and the fact he gave me beautiful flowers...)

Kids are home again today from school. They are over their limit of quality time together.

40 yrs + 1 day

That's right! I'm that old!! Today, I feel it. I have not been able to shake this cold yet and my throat is raw, although I do sound a little 1-900'ish. If you call, I can charge 3.99 per minute. Mike (did I mention my husband?) was going to take me to the pub in Coldbrook (I love their pan fried haddock) but with the snow yesterday it was closed, the roads were not the greatest so we had hamburger helper...hey, don't knock it. The night before we had Chinese food, so trust me, I wasn't lacking.

I had a long chat with Lynn last night. She used to babysit the kids in Halifax but she was more of a babysitter to our family. Our kids had really bonded and they miss each other.

Anyway...must get to work!

Blizzard

Well, it's official, I now know that the snow plows do not come up this far, I was following one up from the hospital and it did turn off, how disapointed was I...

I would looooove to be a meteorologist, they are wrong all the time and still have jobs...they said all of 5 cms and then rain. We had about 15 cms and then rain, so Mike and I shoveled last night. I didn't bother to get up any earlier but I should have...there was probably another 15 cms down and high winds, now there is a blizzard warning on for King's county. Needless to say, the kids are home. Thankfully their mother got groceries yesterday.

Finally feeling a little better. I had this cold/flu settle in last week. I was home Thurs and Fri (I have never been home two days in a row before) and Sat wasn't a whole lot better. As my freind Janet said, now that I am turning 40 my warranty is up...

Yucky Day!

I am home today, that cold/flu going around the office finally caught up with me...not feeling too hot. I just picked Graham up from school. He says he wasn't feeling well, I think he had the "my mom is at home" flu. Anyway I was suppose to have Margarita night tomorrow night but I am delaying it until the 22nd, don't want to infect everyone in the neighborhood.

I did try to blog yesterday but it wouldn't save-who knows?!

Speed Record

I left my house a little late this morning (I know you Russel Metals people cannot imagine that) and I think I set a land speed record, even with my Tim Horton's stop (cause there's no reason to come to work if I don't have my Timmies), I made it here in 18 minutes...good thing there were no RCMP on Brooklyn St this morning.

Last night it was after 10 and Graham was still awake in his bed, he was waiting for his father to get home because he had not seen him in the morning and it would be 24 hours without him seeing Mike...too cute (PS did I mention my husband, Mike?). Elysia on the other hand, was curled up in a ball on her unmade bed...not too happy about that. I guess she spilled something on the sheets but didn't put new ones on and didn't ask for my help. That will be remedied tonight, I don't like that!

Well, my house is wrote off and I am hosting the nieghborhood ladies (?) for Margarita night on Friday, better get my poop in a group.

Party

Well, my mother and sister had a "surprise" party for my non existent birthday Saturday night. Let's just say I was suspecting, I guess it would have been a surprise if it hadn't been for me! I know everyone always says-I don't want a party but I tell you, it was a ball!

My friends from Halifax came down-Patti and Tim, Reta and Bruce, Jane and Todd...Dawn-Marie and Chris from Berwick and Janet and David from our subdivision. Ann and Doc were there, Liz and Ed...Josee and Jeff and my wonderful mother and my loving husband, Mike (PS...did I mention, Mike). The kids were there as well. Elysia even gave up a weekend in Halifax to be there (I sure feel special now).

My good friend (maybe not so much anymore) Reta, felt the need to bring the most hideous picture of me and of course, she had made it into an 8" x 10", cause that's what everyone needs to see when they are eating. Lots of good food, lots of good drinks (I think everyone loved Ann's Butterball shots). Janet had hers and said it tasted like "more". I still think Ann and Janet were separated at birth.

Thanks to everyone who came, it may not have been the great surprise they were hoping for but it sure was fun.

PS I will never forget the look on Sarah and Elysia's faces when they learned what "ManT Hose" were...(they are panty hose for men with an extra "leg" in the front). I thought I was going to pee my pants I laughed so hard.

Friday

Okay, husband, I will go to the movies with you. I would like to see the "Bucket List" movie. The early show of course, since I am almost 40, I cannot stay up that late.

Elysia went to her school dance last night, when I picked her and her friend up, it was cute to listen to them--"So and so danced with so and so". She said she had fun. I tried to trick her father into believing that a boy was picking her up for the dance...you should have seen the look on his face, I thought he was going to lose it...hahaha.

PS Did I mention my husband, Mike who does not live in the shed!
